In 2024, the Youth Council of the Trade Union of Railway Workers and Transport Builders of Ukraine implemented a large-scale educational and career guidance project “Path to a Successful Railway Career,” which covered more than 10 regions and hundreds of participants.

The goal was not only to introduce students to the trade union but also to actively engage them in trade union activities locally.

🔎 Results we are proud of:

👥 435 students from specialized educational institutions learned about the trade union as the sole representative of the labor collective in negotiations with the employer, got acquainted with the benefits of membership and current trade union support programs.

🌱 16 young trade unionists became regional coordinators of the project – they organized events, moderated discussions, and ensured communication with the administration of educational institutions. This contributed to the revitalization of career guidance in 12 cities: Konotop, Kozyatyn, Kyiv, Lviv, Zdolbuniv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Znamianka, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Chernihiv, and Vinnytsia.

📌 Best practices from the participants:

 Lviv Railway – Lviv Polytechnic

The department’s event in cooperation with the Youth Council has become one of the most active career guidance projects in the region. After participating in the project, the young people of the polytechnic and the members of the YC established close cooperation – joint events, exchanges of experience, and new initiatives continue to this day.

Prydniprovska Railway – Zaporizhzhia Training Center

The grant component became a “bridge” for in-depth cooperation between the territorial trade union organization and the educational institution. Thanks to the project, it was possible not only to popularize the trade union among students, but also to establish systematic interaction.

Odesa Railways – Znamianskyi Training Center

The project created a modern space for student events. More than 20 thematic events have already been held, most of them in partnership with the Youth Council of the Znamiansk Territorial Trade Union Organization.

Southwestern Railway – Sumy Training Center

The Sumy Training Center organized a unique excursion trip on the Gayvoronivska narrow-gauge railway. This allowed young people to feel the romance of the profession and see the railway business from the inside.

🗣 Project evaluation:

The final event was attended by representatives of the CPLR and CPC branches and the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrainian railway», who highly appreciated the content and results of the implementation. As one of the participants noted: “This project has become an example of how meaningful trade union education, teamwork, and youth to youth trust have a tangible effect.»
